In January of 2007 I had the rare opportunity to travel to Vietnam with my fiance and her family; who all luckily spoke Vietnamese. In order to get past my unease with sitting around being unable to understand anything anyone was saying beyond, "Cat, boy, three, and car," I decided to use my camera as an excuse to not try talking. This slideshow is a small selection of images from that trip, during which I shot over 1,800 frames. We're now planning another trip this Spring and I can't wait to build on what I learned about taking pictures there the last time.
I try not to think about how many pictures have been taken of Acadia National Park in Maine. Not only did everyone we saw there have a camera, but I found myself gazing enviously at some of the equipment people were humping up the mountain trails. You can judge for yourself how well I did at capturing the park and the surrounding areas in a new way.
Despite living in Boston, I've taken shockingly few trips into New Hampshire. It may be because I was lost near Dover at 4 am once when I was in college with no map, no gas, no money, and a certainty that I would end the night as dinner for a bear. But recently I've been seeing more of the state, which is beautiful, and learning that I don't need to travel very far for some challenging hikes and wonderful scenery.

I always try to have my camera with me whenever I travel. Not every trip yields enough material for it's own presentation so here is a montage of images from around the country.
